Abstract
Various things are to be asked of architectural history of Iran, one is the process of design and building; we don't know much of that and it has been neglected in research practices of this discipline. The main resource of that is contemporary master-builders who are building by the methods of historical architecture and are heirs to their ancestors who made architecture in the past. Their knowledge has now become just pieces of technics and the spirit of building process which connects these pieces is long gone. The building process can be found in various buildings or building types, one of which is house, houses are and were built more than any other building type and every architect also has built a house. The building process, as everything else related to architecture, is a united whole and is interwoven with human beings, to understand the building process one must probe and represent the human world of architecture. On the other hand, architectural history of Iran is a young discipline and its methodological foot is on the grounds of neighboring disciplines of human sciences. To enrich research methods of Iran's architectural history and to bring about new paradigms one must take risk and try new methods in research practice; one of these methods is fiction writing. This method is under qualitative research methods branch in human sciences, scholars in social sciences have also found that of use in research practices of their discipline, yet, scholars working in the field of arts-based research have too mentioned this method as one the many kinds of arts-based research methods.
Thorough understanding of every method requires that to be tried in practice and be evaluated by the output. This thesis consists of three chapters: the first chapter is about theoretical and methodological fundamentals and the nature of fiction-writing method and different aspects of that is discussed; in the second
chapter the story which was output of practicing this method in the subject of
this research is presented; and in the third chapter this output is evaluated and the
things that were brightened for us in this journey are discussed
